Dr Matthew Meerkin graduated from Melbourne University in Science, a double major in biochemistry and physiology in 1963, and graduated in medicine at Monash University in 1967. He gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 1972 in special chemical pathology.
Matthew was appointed Senior Specialist in Pathology at Geelong Hospital in 1972-75 (Head of Department), Head of Department at Auckland Hospital and Associate Professor of Chemical Pathology at Auckland School of Medicine 1975-79. He became Chairman of Department of Clinical Chemistry at Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Hospital Group, 1979-87, consultant Chemical Pathologist to Macquarie Pathology 1987-89, Managing Pathologist at Sugerman’s Pathology 1990-91, CEO and Chemical Pathologist at Sugerman’s Pathology 1991-96 and Head of Biochemistry Services for NSW 1997-2002, for Mayne Health Laverty Pathology.
Matthew is a part-time Consultant Chemical Pathologist and serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Notre Dame Australia.
